Installing this PC card drives is the most economical method to add PC Card slots to a desktop PC so you can have the same PCMCIA functionality that a laptop PC provides. This high performance PCI Bus to 16-bit PC Card and 32-bit CardBus PC Card Reader/Writer (PCMCIA Card Drives) supports two independent type II PC card sockets. The two slot design accommodates up to any combination of two Type I or Type II cards simultaneously or one Type III card. It supports all kinds of type I, type II, or type III 16-bit PC Cards and 32-bit CardBus PC Cards such as data storage, Ethernet / Network, Modem, Wireless LAN (IEEE802.11b, Bluetooth), high performance CardBus (IEEE1394 and USB2.0), ATA Flash memory, Hard Disk Drives, Linear Flash, SRAM, .. etc. cards. The rear access design make it ideal for Ethernet Network/LAN Card (wired or wireless), Modem Card (wired or wireless), .. etc. since it does not occupy desktop PC's drive bay. It also reads & writes CompactFlash (CF) card**, SSFDC SmartMedia card**, Microdrive**, Memory Stick**, MultiMediaCard (MMC)**, Secure Digital (SD) card**, etc.. (** need the proper PCMCIA adapter).

PCD-TP-202CS, using Texas Instrument chipset, is more compatible with various motherboards than the model using Ricoh chipset. This model is recommended for wireless modem PC cards (Sierra / Verizon AirCard, Novatel Merlin, Cingular EDGE, Kyocera, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, AirPrime, Qualcomm, ..etc.) and wireless LAN cards. This model is also recommended by RayMarine for their wireless applications.

This card reader/writer works with Microsoft Windows 95 /98 /98SE /ME /2000 /XP operating systems. Windows NT driver is optional. No driver is needed when installed under Windows XP. Windows XP will detect this reader and install native driver automatically.

Note: If a 32-bit Cardbus card is used, Windows 98SE may not automatically detect it. Please go to control panel to "Add Hardware", then the Cardbus card will be detected.
