Installing this PCI-to-PCMCIA card drives is an ideal method to add a standard 16-bit PCMCIA PC Card slot to the front panel of a desktop computer. The front drive bay mounting or external mounting design make inserting or removing PCMCIA cards much more convenient.

This PCMCIA card reader-writer, using the highly compatible Texas Instruments TI1225 PCMCIA 16-bit controller chipset, works with Microsoft Windows 98SE /ME /2000 /XP /Vista operating systems. Windows XP and Vista will detect this card reader and install the Windows built-in driver automatically. A disk containing the driver for Windows 98SE/ ME/ 2000 is provided in the package.

This PCMCIA CardBus Card Reader supports all Type I, Type II, & Type III 16-bit PC cards (such as ATA flash memory, hard drives, linear flash, SRAM, ethernet network/LAN and modem cards, etc.). PCD-TP-220S also reads & writes other types of data storage cards such as Compact Flash, MicroDrive, Memory Stick (MS & MS Pro), SD, xD, etc with the proper PCMCIA adapter.

PCD-TP-220S

This high performance PCI interface front-access dual-slot (type II & III PCMCIA sockets) PC card reader/writer is compatible with any desktop PCs (586 or later platform) with an available PCI slot and can be mounted in a 3.5" drive bay or a 5.25" drive bay with an optional 5.25" mounting kit. The PCI interface circuit card and the flat cables are provided in the package.

The two built-in PC Card slots (one Type III and one Type II) can accommodate any combination of Type I, Type II, or Type III cards simultaneously up to one Type III PC Card and one Type II PC Card in either 3.3V or 5V modes. It supports all 16-bit PC cards such as data storage, Ethernet Network, Modem, Wireless LAN (IEEE802.11b, Bluetooth), ATA Flash memory, Hard Disk Drives, Linear Flash, SRAM, .. etc. It also reads & writes CompactFlash (CF) card**, SSFDC SmartMedia card**, Microdrive**, Memory Stick**, MultiMediaCard (MMC)**, Secure Digital (SD) card**, etc.. (** need a proper PCMCIA adapter).

This reader/writer does not support 32-bit CardBus PC Cards. * External Mounting
[If all drives bay of a desktop computer are occupied, this card reader can be used as an external unit since the reader unit is almost fully enclosed by a metal housing and can be connected to the PCI interface circuit board on the motherboard via the supplied IDE flat cables passed through the rear expansion slot of the desktop computer. However, the supplied flat cables are only 15 inches long which is designed for internal mounting. If longer flat cables are required for external mounting, customers need to purchase longer IDE flat cables which are available at computer stores. The rear part of the reader unit is not fully enclosed and small area of the circuit board is exposed to provide access for the IDE flat cables connecting to the IDE connectors on the reader unit. Therefore, for cosmetic reason, the external mounting is not highly recommended unless it is the only option.]
