Do you need PCMCIA PC Card slots in a desktop PC to operate 3G cards like wireless modem PC card for mobile internet access or transfer data among desktop and notebook computers, palmtops, digital cameras, MP3 players, and other devices? These PC card readers/writers (also known as PCMCIA card drives / PC Card slots / PC Card hosts / PC card adapters / PCMCIA socket controllers) can significantly simplify the tasks of wireless internet connection, data transfer, etc.
Installing the PCI interface PC card reader to a desktop PC is the most economical method to add PCMCIA PC Card slots to the desktop PC so you can have the same PCMCIA functionality that a laptop PC provides. These internal PC card readers support all kinds of type I, type II, or type III 16-bit PC cards and/or 32-bit CardBus PC cards such as data storage, modem (wired or wireless), wired and wireless ethernet Network/LAN cards (IEEE802.11b, Bluetooth), CardBus (IEEE1394 and USB2.0) adapter, ATA flash memory, hard disk drives, linear flash, SRAM, serial I/O cards, etc.. These PCMCIA card drives also read CompactFlash (CF) card, SmartMedia card, Microdrive, Memory Stick, MultiMediaCard (MMC), Secure Digital (SD) card, etc..
Wireless internet access in an area without wired internet access is now feasible for desktop PCs not equipped with PCMCIA (PC Card) slot. The drive bay mount PCI interface PC card drives (PCD-TP-110CS) or rear mount PCI interface PC card drives (1-slot model PCD-RP-101CS or 2-slots model PCD-RP-202CS) are ideal for communication cards such as ethernet LAN card (wired or wireless), modem card (wired or wireless), GPS, etc., since most of the wireless modem cards are 32-bit PCMCIA CardBus PC cards. These models are recommended for IEEE802.11x wireless LAN and wireless modem PC cards such as Verizon / Sierra AirCard, Novatel Merlin, Cingular EDGE, Kyocera Passport, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, AirPrime, ACS, Fiberlink, SK-Earthlink, Qualcomm, and other wireless PC card modems using CDMA, WCDMA, EDGE, GPRS, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, EV-DO (EVDO) technology. These models are also recommended for RayMarine GPS and radar products.
To operate 32-bit PCMCIA CardBus PC cards, please order PCD-TP-110CS (front mount, 1-slot model), PCD-RP-101CS (rear mount, 1-slot model) or PCD-RP-202CS (rear mount, 2-slot model). If you are sure your PCMCIA card is a 16-bit PC card, you can use the 16-bit front-mount readers like PCD-TP-220S.
