PCMCIA Static RAM (SRAM) PC Card  ( SRAM Memory Card )

We supply two types of PCMCIA SRAM memory cards, rechargeable battery type and replaceable battery type, to industrial and military customers.

These high speed PCMCIA type I SRAM PC cards are available with or without attribute memory for "plug and play" compatibility.  You can use these PCMCIA Static RAM (SRAM) memory cards for palmtop / PDA / hand-held PC (HPC), Pfaff sewing machine, GE Fanuc computer numerical control (CNC), music instrument like keyboard/ synthesizer (Alesis, Ensoniq, Korg, etc.), Cisco and Nortel Bay Networks routers, vibration analyzer, data collection terminal, monitoring device, data storage instrumentation, laptop/notebook PC, PCMCIA equipped PC, etc.  These SRAM cards offer a high performance, reprogrammable, non-volatile solution for code and data storage, disk caching, and write intensive applications in mobile and embedded systems. Pretec SRAM PC Card with Dual Battery :  [ActionTec, Epson, Hitachi, Kingmax, Magic Ram (MagicRAM), Mitsubishi Melcard, Panasonic, Toshiba, Viking equivalent SRAM PC Cards]  These SRAM cards are compatible and interchangeable with Centennial/SMART SRAM cards. Please check the Compatibility List.

These PCMCIA type 1 SRAM PC cards are designed with dual backup battery - a removable (replaceable) but non-rechargeable 3V lithium battery (primary battery) and an on-board rechargeable but non-replaceable battery (secondary battery) for data retention.  This design allows the replacement of primary battery without data loss.  The digital signals will alarm the user the need of primary battery replacement.  The write protect switch on the SRAM PC card provides protection from inadvertent erasure.

Pretec SRAM PC cards are compatible with all known PCMCIA SRAM PC card applications. [Please check Application List]  Packaged in PCMCIA Type I housing, Pretec SRAM PC cards are available from 256KB to 8MB and in standard industrial temperature grade (0°C to +70°C). Pretec SRAM cards come with plastic travel case.

Centennial / SMART Modular * SRAM PC Card with Fixed Rechargeable Battery :  [Magic Ram (MagicRAM), Simple Technology (SimpleTech), Synchrotech, White Electronic Designs (WEDC) equivalent SRAM PC Cards]  These SRAM cards are compatible and interchangeable with Pretec SRAM cards. These PCMCIA type I SRAM PC cards contain a built-in rechargeable lithium battery with recharge circuit that automatically maintains peak condition when in use. The recharge feature eliminates the need for periodic replacing of batteries and avoids the environmental harm when disposing of used batteries. By fully encasing the battery within an ultra-sonically welded metal housing, these rechargeable SRAM PCMCIA cards offer greater resistance to shock and vibration. The card's rigid metal casing withstands harsh environmental conditions.

SMART/Centennial SRAM PC cards are compatible with all known PCMCIA SRAM PC card applications. [Please check Application List]  These PCMCIA SRAM cards are based on advanced CMOS technology providing very low power consumption and reliable data retention characteristics. Attribute memory
[There is no performance difference between 8KB and 2KB attribute memory. Devices accept SRAM cards with 2KB attribute memory can also accept SRAM cards with 8KB attribute memory.]

Attribute memory is used for Card Information Structure (CIS) storage. CIS describes the characteristics and capabilities of SRAM PCMCIA card so the host system can automatically configure it. Some devices need this optional attribute memory for CIS. Please check your device's documentation or contact the device manufacturer to determine if the optional attribute memory is required or not. If your device requires no attribute memory, you do not need to purchase SRAM cards with attribute memory.

If you are not sure whether the attribute memory is required by your devices or not, it is recommended to choose SRAM memory cards with attribute memory because:
(1) SRAM cards with attribute memory are more compatible with most devices.  Most of the devices accepting SRAM card without attribute memory can also accept SRAM card with attribute memory.  [Exception: Some precision agriculture data loggers like the Ag Leader yield monitors can only use SRAM cards without attribute memory.]
(2) Windows 2000, XP, and Vista only support SRAM cards with attribute memory.  To read/write SRAM cards without the attribute memory, in systems running Windows 2000 and XP, you need Third Party Software Packages for SRAM PC Card or special SRAM card reader such as OMNIDriveUSB Pro, etc.

PCMCIA SRAM PC Card Compatibility List

The SRAM PC card with fixed rechargeable battery and the SRAM PC card with replaceable battery are compatible with each other, thus are interchangeable. The battery difference does not affect the functionality of SRAM card at all.  You can choose either type of SRAM PC card according to your own preference in battery type. The manufacturer and/or brand name printed on PCMCIA SRAM card also does not matter because all SRAM cards are made the same according to the same PCMCIA/JEIDA standards since 1990.

The only issue is the optional attribute memory which could be identified by the part number printed on SRAM PC card.  However, if you are not sure whether the optional attribute memory is required by your device/ instrument/ equipment, it is recommended to choose SRAM memory card with attribute memory except for agriculture yield monitors because these devices can only use SRAM cards without attribute memory. [Please look up the SRAM Card Application List.]

The following compatibility list is not comprehensive and is provided for reference only. Many brands listed in the Table have been discontinued. Please do not worry if the manufacturer and/or brand name of your old SRAM card is not listed because all SRAM PC cards are produced according to the same PCMCIA/JEIDA standards. The PCMCIA and JEIDA have published many new releases since 1990, but none of the revisions change the design and manufacturing standards of SRAM PC Card. Therefore, old and obsolete brand names and part numbers are not an issue and all brands are interchangeable.
